Livery Rules Update (March 09)

Starting from the next season there will be some changes to the livery rules. These changes will make it much easier for you to paint the livery aswell as the stewards to scrutineer.

Number Board font is upper case #1.

Driver Number must be Black on White Background.

Drivertag boards are no longer compulsory over the drivers door as they now form the lower part of the number board.

A driver who has won the previous season of the current championship may display their number in dark red instead of black (all number boards).

Small number boards in this position on the bonnet/hood.

Web address on sunvisor - address must be either in black or white lettering. The sunvisor strip can be any single colour. The use of 'www.' and '.com' is optional for the 70's Cup.

Small number board as close to this position as possible on the tailgatge.

WLR plate in correct position on rear.

These livery rules will apply to all championships in their 'new' season. They are applied to all championships except 70C where small adaptations are made.

Overtaking

It's an integral part of racing. But when is an overtaking manouvere deemed illegal?

Easy, you might think, but many people and drivers interpret this differently.

Of course we have the obvious ones such as 'using the opponents car as a brake' and 'ramming the opponent of the road' in an attempt to overtake. Everyone knows that these are unnacceptable. The same can be said for 'cutting the track' as you havn't overtaken fairly. These are all well and good and are easy to point the blame at someone but it's not always that simple.
Take for example the time where you are chasing the car ahead, he leaves the door open, you make the move but in doing so make contact with your opponent and he sustains damage. As a steward this must be a very hard decision to make. From the attacking driver you would see he has a valid opportunity and attempt at overtaking. As the defending driver you would feel that you was unfairly overtaken and forced off the road.

As soon as you put that helmet on, step into the car, and start the engine, all you are thinking about is winning and sometimes the adreniline gets the better of you.

Drivers just have to realise that no-one is out there to ruin your race. It's not what we are about. We want clean, fair but competitive racing and that is what we get. Just dont get agrieved when you get overtaken, chase them and take that position back.

Who Said What...? #2

Richard Burns Touring Trophy: Season Finale Shakedown

"Absolutely delighted. This is my fourth championship win and they just keep getting better. For a privateer to win the RBTT is a great achievement. I had a good car all season. After all the other teams moved up to the '05 Impreza I stayed with the '04 and the gamble paid off. I just felt like I could win with this car and I proved that this season. Got to hand it to wilksyn01 too. He pushed me right to the end and he has shown what a superb driver he is." Elite Toker, Under Influence Racing (Championship Winner).

"To take the Team Championship is fantastic. We knew we had a good car and it showed throughout the season. The guys in the garage worked wonders and managed to give me a good setup each race. This wouldn't have been possible withouth them. As for the driver championship I am a little disappointed to not take the title but I was up against it from the word go. Elite is a great driver and is one of the best drivers on the WLR. To be behind Elite is an achievement itself. I gave it my best shot and I can only improve on this. I thoroughly enjoyed this season and it produced some great battles. Roll on next season where I will be quicker, and better than ever." wilksyn01, H4H Motorsport UK (Team Championship Winner).

"I never really got going. I had too many mechanical problems with the car. The team worked their socks off to get the car out in each race but it just didn't feel right." Adam Drane, RBF Racing UK.

Elite Takes It In Style

Richard Burns Touring Trophy: Season 1

Elite Toker made it 4 Championship Title victories as he won the RBTT S1 by over 100 points. Elite finished the season with a fantastic 586pts. Elite, in the 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STi never looked back after taking the lead early on in the season. He has now amassed a total of 25 career victories in only 65 races and finds himself ranked 4th in the WLR standings with a win ratio of 2.7 (1 win every 2.7 races).
Don't think that he won the series without a fight as wilksyn01, racing for H4H Motorsport UK, gave him just that. Willksyn01 finished the season with a respectable 477pts and comfortably taking 2nd place.
SebDek82 finishes the top 3 round-up, with 332pts. SebDek missed Event 7 this season but still managed to hold onto 3rd.

In the team championship, H4H Motorsport UK took the title away from Under Influence Racing. H4H Motorsport UK, who had wilksyn01 and CDR n sane behind the wheel of their 2004 Volvo S60R, totaled up 714pts and took the title by a considerable margin. Under Influence Racing made a fantastic achievement by finishing in 2nd position. Under Influence Racing, who is a privateer team, took 586pts and had beaten Green Hell Racing by 36pts. Well done Elite.

A mention also goes out to Elite Toker, Wilksyn01, GHR Gynoug79, TGR Deano, and Adam Drane who all recieved the Iron Man Award for competing in all 8 events this season.

A full results break down can be found here.

Thanks to all 19 drivers who competed in the RBTT S1. Hope to see you next season.

Seb's Fatal Accident

Anyone remember SebDek82 going over the line on the roof of the Formula BMW? If you don't then take a look.

Race Pro: F3000 Launch

Next week marks the start of the first F3000 season here at 'The WLR'. With 12 drivers registered with a car and 7 drivers already signed up for the first race we are sure to be in for a cracking season.

"This is the first open-wheeled championship that 'The WLR' have hosted and it's sure to be a good one. To be able to drive these car's you have to be able to control the cars going into the corners which takes a lot of skill from these drivers. Something that will be key will be pit strategy. With the races being long we won't see drivers pit on the opening laps to get 'free air' as you will see drivers strategically plan when to make their pit stop so that they maintain a good level of grip on their tyres but yet keep ahead of their rivals." Adam Drane, Competition Organisor.

It's enevitable that some point during the season we will see a driver run out of fuel, blame his tyres, or even blame his pit crew but one thing is for sure we will see some cracking racing.

See you at Curitiba, Brazil.

Clio World Tour: Event 5: Rounds 9 & 10

Mugello, Italy

"I know how people feel when they have to carry ballast. It's as if i've forgotten to take the bricks out of the boot. It's so demoralising when you see the other drivers blast past you on the straight. I'm suffering next week too with even more success ballast. I think it's just a case of damage limitation." TenEightyOne, Northern Racing

"To take 65 points from an event is fantastic. I never thought that would be possible. Hopefully I can have a good end to the season to set me up for season 6." J0ker73, Napier Racing.

"This was just a bad day at the office. Things went wrong from the get-go but I'm just glad that I'm back racing with these guys." Raynard06, Billabong Racing.

"To get onto the podium in both races is great. It was nice to get my first P2 of my career. Hopefully this is a sign of more things to come. With Dan (Sedge) having logistic problems, which will probably rule him out of the trip to Suzuka, I have got a good chance of moving up into 3rd in the championship". BORO BEX, H4H Motorsport UK.
